  The Department of Computer Science and Engineering advisory board meets twice a year, typically in the Spring and Fall, to advise the Department on curricula, trends in industry, and related topics. I fly from Denver to Dayton twice a year on my own dime for this opportunity to network with a bunch of interesting folks and try to contribute to an organization for which I have a lot of affection and gratitude.

  The Wright State University Foundation has a scholarship fund endowed in honor of Robert Dixon. Bob was the first faculty member hired by Wright State. His first office was in the farm house on the property while the campus was being built circa 1967. He founded the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. He served as chair of both of those departments (some more than once), as well as vice-president of the Faculty and occasionally the director of the computer center. Bob was also my…

Bob was also my (and many others) mentor and thesis advisor. He passed away at age 86 in November 2022.

  Was part of the team of IEEE members from Colorado who interacted with U.S. Congressional senators and representatives for Colorado and their staff to promote science and technology issues of interest to IEEE members and the citizens of the U.S. Because this occurred during the pandemic lockdowns, these interactions were performed online. The team interacted with staffers from the offices of Senator John Hickenlooper (CO-S), Senator Michael Bennet (CO-S), Representative Edwin Perlmutter (CO-07, which includes Arvada and Westminster), Representative Jason Crow (CO-06, which includes Aurora), and Representative Joe Neguse (CO-02, which includes Boulder and Broomfield). My allotted time was spent speaking in support of funding for post-quantum cryptography and for GPS resiliency.
